People

Our church has many talented and dedicated people. They serve not only ministries within the church, but in the community. On this page we’ll feature some brief excerpts from some of their stories.

Bob Turner

Trained as aeronautical engineers, Bob & Gloria Turner first settled in Pittsburg in the 1940s. After Bob’s job took them to Fort Worth for several years, they returned to Pittsburg in retirement. Bob is active in the Good Citizen’s Sunday School class, while Gloria teaches the Builders class.

While taking pictures for this website yesterday, I caught Bob doing yard work at the Homestead Museum (part of the Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum) across the street from the church. Bob and Gloria have been heavily involved in the museum and its operations for years. He says he used to be able to do more - back when he was a youngster in his 70s, but he’s had to slow down a bit since then. In addition to helping out in the office and leadership of the museum, he also mows the yard and he and Gloria work to keep it looking good.

Bob & Gloria have made so many contributions to the life of our congregation, and they are loved by all they come in contact with. They have touched my life in so many ways.

I want to thank Jim Pendley and Richard Heyduck for passing along our request to pray for 11 year old Evan Hoffman who has an inoperable cancerous brain tumor. I am a member of FUMC in Springfield, IL. God brought us together and I thank Him for that.

Our family is so grateful for your prayers. God Bless You and Thank You!
