We’re here in Pittsburg to bring honor and glory to God. Our mission is to make disciples who become Disciple-makers. In other words, we follow Jesus. We are his students (”Disciple” means “student”). After his death and resurrection, Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.”
God remains active in the world today. We seek to join in God’s action, and invite others to join us for the adventure.
We’re a United Methodist Church. While we pray for and work toward the unity Jesus prayed for (”I pray, Father, that they may be one, just as we are one, so that the world may know that you have sent me”), we are connected with our congregations throughout the world through this particular expression of the faith. The General Board of Discipleship has created a 20 minute overview of United Methodism that may be of interest to you.
