Children's Ministry

Nurturing faith, building confidence, and sharing God’s love in fun, age-appropriate ways.

At First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg, our Children’s Ministry is dedicated to creating a welcoming, supportive, and faith-filled environment where children can grow, learn, and discover God’s love. Our mission is to nurture children’s love for Jesus while helping them build relationships, feel valued, and know they have a place where they belong.
Our Children’s Ministry team brings years of experience serving children and families. We are passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for children to learn, grow, and experience God’s love in a way that is fun, engaging, and age appropriate.

Youth Ministry

A safe, fun space for teens to explore faith, build friendships, and serve.

YOUTH GROUP – Grades 6 – 12
(WEDNESDAY 5:30 – 7:30PM)
The youth group at FUMC Pittsburg is a vibrant group of teens ranging from grades 6-12. We meet weekly on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30pm during the school year, where the students focus on devotions, and building faith-based friendships through games, fun activities, and serving the community.

We also have activities planned outside the church and occasional trips to encourage building relationships in other fun and exciting places. Our focus is creating a space where the youth feel a sense of safety and belonging in our church; where they can actively learn about God’s love, and also learn life skills such as cooperation, respect, empathy, and community.

Serve With Us

Putting faith into action right here in Pittsburg and Crawford County.

Serving others is at the heart of who we are as a church family. Whatever your unique gifts, schedule, or interests, there is a place for you to make a meaningful difference, whether inside our church walls, at the Wesley House, or across our local community.

Ministries & Programs
  • WESLEY HOUSE FOOD PANTRY:
Wesley House began in the 1980s as an outreach ministry and has grown into the largest food pantry in Crawford County, still owned and operated by First United Methodist Church. Volunteers help sort and distribute food, welcome guests, and keep this vital ministry running week to week.

  • CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRIES:
Help shape the faith of the next generation by serving in our children’s or youth programs — whether that’s teaching Sunday School, supporting Wednesday night youth activities, or helping with Vacation Bible School.

  • HOSPITALITY TEAM:
From greeting visitors at the door to helping host coffee fellowship after worship, our hospitality team helps make sure everyone who walks through our doors feels welcome.

Community Outreach Partnerships
  • MOSAIC: A nonprofit serving adults with intellectual disabilities. We host an activity day with Mosaic once a month.

  • LORD’S DINER: A mobile restaurant serving meals across the community. We send a volunteer team to multiple locations on the fourth Friday of each month.

  • RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVES:
We occasionally host blood drives in partnership with the Red Cross. Volunteers are always needed on drive days, and of course, so are blood donors!
